Dolly-Parton
Dolly Parton, who was born in Locust Ridge Tenn. on Jan. 19. 1946 into a very humble family of 12 children later on, realized early that she could escape her hardships through a creative mind. She was writing songs before she was able to write or read. When she got her first instrument at age of 8, she began to perform on radio stations in Knoxville in Tennessee. Gold Band Records is a tiny, independent label. Even though she became a local star while in high school, her ambitions were much bigger. She relocated to Nashville shortly after her graduation in 1964. Dumb Blonde (1967) and Something Fishy (1968) were her first two charting albums on Monument Records. Porter Wagoner began looking for female singers to join his syndicated television program at about the exact as the time. Parton signed with RCA Records and then joined the Grand Ole Opry. She accepted her job in 1967. The band split in 1974 when her solo hits like Joshua Coat of Many Colors and Jolene beat out the collaborations.
